20th Anniversary of Days of Thunder

The 20th anniversary of the filming of Days of Thunder is here and it sure brings back a lot of memories for me. Having been a young man during the filming, coming to grips with that having happened 20 long years ago is pretty wild. Where does the time go?

We were asked to get one of the original movie cars back in running condition, and it is a real blast from the past. To see how things used to be done is really educational for some of the younger guys, but for those of us who were around back then, it’s just like coming home to an old friend. To see these photos of Tom Cruise and Rick Hendrick driving the old car and a new, two-seat, C.O.T. version of the #46 City Chevrolet around Daytona, just brings it all full-circle for me.

Here is some random Days of Thunder stuff from my archives:

Welcome to my online home since 2004. I blog a bit about my life as it happens, my work as I am permitted, and occasional throwback entries. When I'm not writing new posts, I actively curate this blog, improving the wording or adding new media to old posts, and finally finishing old drafts I've left sitting for years. It is not my intention to be a source of news or content. I don’t have anything to sell, and I’m not trying to get likes/shares/follows. This site is an autobiographical effort - imperfections and all. My life, remembered in my words, my way.

When known, I include credit for photos in the captions. Contact me for photo credit or removal. *Side note: If you make one of my Mother's recipes, I'd be happy to post a photo of the finished product in the corresponding post, and give you full photo credit.
