NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience

In 2004, we had the opportunity to work on NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience. It is always fun to handle supplying the race cars, people, and logistics behind the scenes on a movie, then see the finished product on the big screen. I especially enjoy seeing the children and spouses of my employees in awe as they get to see what their parent/spouse do on this type of scale.

While high-speed video shoots are exciting, we try to avoid them if we can. There is so much that can go wrong, not to mention the wear and tear on paint, engines, and other parts. For this shoot, it was imperative we appear for the sponsors and for NASCAR, so we were happy to oblige. The editing was done so well it’s hard to determine what was race footage, and what was the footage we filmed with showcars.

Welcome to my online home since 2004. I blog a bit about my life as it happens, my work as I am permitted, and occasional throwback entries. When I'm not writing new posts, I actively curate this blog, improving the wording or adding new media to old posts, and finally finishing old drafts I've left sitting for years. It is not my intention to be a source of news or content. I don’t have anything to sell, and I’m not trying to get likes/shares/follows. This site is an autobiographical effort - imperfections and all. My life, remembered in my words, my way.
