Not sure why I thought this would be a good idea, but I accepted a ride with Kyle Busch in a BMW around Charlotte Motor Speedway a while back. It was October, 2005, and we were doing a two-seater event with him, some sponsors, and his girlfriend. We would often use Petty Driving Experience to provide uniforms and helmets to the sponsors, as we had the car and equipment to run it, but nothing for passenger safety.
As things calmed down for the day, Kyle took to the track in a passenger car to give a few rides and on the last one, he asked me if I wanted to tag along in the empty back seat. I usually decline invites like that, but I decided it would be worth the time, so away we went! He got up to 147 MPH at one point. Pretty wild in a street car! Yikes!
