Visiting Frank Edwards

Last week, a couple of my former employees and I went to visit racing legend Frank Edwards. We all used to work alongside him years ago. We like to get different groups together to go see Frank occasionally because he was such a prominent member of our team, and he lives so far away. For over 30 years he traveled over 175 miles one way from his home to work. He left his family, friends, and everything else behind in Middleburg, NC, while he worked in Charlotte. He’d go back home on the weekend, but he still missed a lot doing that for so long. He’s 82 now, and we don’t want him to feel like his dedication and friendship have been forgotten. Plus, he’s just a few miles from the grave of our former boss Papa Joe Hendrick, whom we all loved, so we paid a visit there too. For me, there are family members buried at the same cemetery, so it makes for a very meaningful trip.

Frank is currently working on a 1929 Phaeton touring car. A really unique automobile. He’s replacing both the metal and wood that needs to be replaced, and is going to completely restore the mechanical works as well.

Welcome to my online home since 2004. I blog a bit about my life as it happens, my work as I am permitted, and occasional throwback entries. When I'm not writing new posts, I actively curate this blog, improving the wording or adding new media to old posts, and finally finishing old drafts I've left sitting for years. It is not my intention to be a source of news or content. I don’t have anything to sell, and I’m not trying to get likes/shares/follows. This site is an autobiographical effort - imperfections and all. My life, remembered in my words, my way.
