11 years ago today, Ricky Hendrick won his second NASCAR Winston Racing Series Late Model race at Concord Motorsport Park. I was elated to be a small part of it. The times we shared racing Late Models will stay with me the rest of my life.

The race win was so exciting, but we definitely missed having Ricky’s dad Rick Hendrick with us. At this point we were so hopeful his Leukemia treatments would be successful and we could possibly see him return to the race track when he was able. Behind the scenes, it was tough, and Rick battled incredibly hard. We weren’t sure what the future would hold for his health, but we wanted to do all we could to brighten his day at the least.
