Alice Ligon and Robert Thorpe

I get to spend time with one of my best friends, Robert Thorpe, on a regular basis. We have worked together for a long time now in various roles, but we’ve known each other for 30 years. Robert was the best man at my wedding, and my stabilizing force at Hendrick Motorsports now that Papa Joe Hendrick is no longer with us.

Today, Robert and I got a visit from an old friend of ours, Alice Ligon. Alice is well known to the employees of City Chevrolet for her cafe, but the relationship she shares with Robert and me is special. If you ask her, she will tell you she raised us. In fact, she even said, “I raised these babies!” to several people standing by when this photo was taken. I know she has had a great impact on my life, and I’m sure Robert’s as well. She cooks exclusively for the Hendrick family at their home now, and that makes the rest of us jealous! I love these two amazing people more than words can express. They are such a big part of who I am.

Welcome to my online home since 2004. I blog a bit about my life as it happens, my work as I am permitted, and occasional throwback entries. When I'm not writing new posts, I actively curate this blog, improving the wording or adding new media to old posts, and finally finishing old drafts I've left sitting for years. It is not my intention to be a source of news or content. I don’t have anything to sell, and I’m not trying to get likes/shares/follows. This site is an autobiographical effort - imperfections and all. My life, remembered in my words, my way.

When known, I include credit for photos in the captions. Contact me for photo credit or removal. *Side note: If you make one of my Mother's recipes, I'd be happy to post a photo of the finished product in the corresponding post, and give you full photo credit.

If you have comments or questions, feel free to visit the Contact page and fill out the form. I'll be happy to respond. Thanks for stopping by!
