Having worked with Jeff Gordon for many years, I am thankful and happy to see him inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame on his first ballot. Working with him was always a positive experience. In the latter years especially, as he became even nicer and more generous with his time than he was earlier in his career. To see how hard he worked behind the scenes, and to know how much of his life was consumed by his passion for racing, it’s only fitting he would be celebrated on its highest stage.
When people find out about my background, one of their first questions is what type of person Jeff is. I’m always happy to report that he is a good guy. One of the few drivers I worked with that I actually pulled for on race day because of who he was, not just because it was financially beneficial for me. I wanted him to have success. He deserved it. To know we’ll likely not see him on the race track again is difficult, but knowing he’ll still be involved in the business helps to soothe the sting.
One of the greatest ever – Jeff Gordon. Congratulations Jeff!
