Lola Maui Myrick

Today our very good girl Lola went to doggie Heaven. She was 14 years old. She led a good life, full of doing almost whatever she wanted, outsmarting anyone and everyone, bossing her human parents and doggie siblings around, being the family alarm clock, and always, always, being the most beautiful girl. She went by many nicknames – Boo, Boo-Boo, Boogey, Boogey Sunshine, Boo Berry, Boo Berry Biscuit, Boogey Roo-Roo, Lulu, Lo-Lo, and many, many others, but her full name, Lola Maui Myrick, was only used on occasions when she’d show a little too much independence. She was our pick of the litter at Golden Creek Kennels, mostly because of her mischief and spunk, things she kept until almost the very end. She was treated medically for her entire life by the amazing staff at Poplar Animal Hospital. There is not a finer group of people in the world. They always go above and beyond, and they played a huge part in her long, 14 year life.

Aside from spending time with her human grandparents, there was very little that satisfied her like being in the breeze on the grass in the sun. That was her happy place, and that is where she died. We will never stop missing her. All dogs go to Heaven.

Welcome to my online home since 2004. I blog a bit about my life as it happens, my work as I am permitted, and occasional throwback entries. When I'm not writing new posts, I actively curate this blog, improving the wording or adding new media to old posts, and finally finishing old drafts I've left sitting for years. It is not my intention to be a source of news or content. I don’t have anything to sell, and I’m not trying to get likes/shares/follows. This site is an autobiographical effort - imperfections and all. My life, remembered in my words, my way.

When known, I include credit for photos in the captions. Contact me for photo credit or removal. *Side note: If you make one of my Mother's recipes, I'd be happy to post a photo of the finished product in the corresponding post, and give you full photo credit.

If you have comments or questions, feel free to visit the Contact page and fill out the form. I'll be happy to respond. Thanks for stopping by!
