NASCAR “Get In” Commercial

I was the stunt driver for the NASCAR “Get In” commercial featuring Jeff Gordon that was filmed at Charlotte Motor Speedway a few years ago. What looks like Jeff Gordon inside the #24 DuPont car with his helmet on, is actually me with the fuel man’s borrowed uniform and helmet. For this shoot, I took the car to the track, unloaded it, suited up, did a few rolling stops in the car, then watched as they put folks including Jeff in the car, and they got in and out over and over again. Pretty crazy day, and hot too!

Those sorts of shoots helped highlight the amazing work my old Showcar Department did to maintain those cars to such a high standard that you can’t tell it from the real race car. An incredible bunch of guys that I miss working with. I was truly fortunate to have had those years.

I asked one of the lighting guys take a photo of me inside the car, so I posted that below, along with a photo of me in the fuel man’s uniform. And yes, I realize I look nothing like Jeff Gordon stuffed into that uniform! Good thing you only see me from the neck up in the commercial! I told everyone I was Jeff Gordon’s stunt double, because I was big enough to be two of him!
