Thoughts and Prayers

This isn’t funny to me. This meme is making fun of an overused Christian saying. I found this on the Internet the other day and instead of, “Thoughts and Prayers”, this shows, “tots and pears”. It is designed specifically to make fun of Christians. Current social media trends make great fun of Christians’ typical, generic, “sending thoughts and prayers” reply to almost any bad news. If you didn’t already know that, let this be your wake up call. Christians – They are making fun of us. A LOT of people are. The world doesn’t believe in our prayers, and with good reason. How many times do we simply give lip service to the, “sending thoughts and prayers” with our keyboards, then immediately go about our business, not spending another second to act, think or pray on the subject? All too often. So as Christians, let’s kill, “thoughts and prayers” as a saying. Kill it dead. Instead, let’s say, “I’m going to stop what I’m doing, and pray for you right now.”, then stop what you are doing, and pray like we say we’re going to do. Additionally – If you can actually do something to help, then DO IT. Action over words.

When our own fake lip service to give the “thoughts and prayers” has become ridiculed, and people say, “prayers are worthless” as often as we hear it these days, let’s do better. That’s on us, not them. We can’t blame the world for ridiculing us or saying prayers are worthless, when it’s our reality that causes the ridicule. Change our overused saying to a new one, and let’s actually pray and do something!

Welcome to my online home since 2004. I blog a bit about my life as it happens, my work as I am permitted, and occasional throwback entries. When I'm not writing new posts, I actively curate this blog, improving the wording or adding new media to old posts, and finally finishing old drafts I've left sitting for years. It is not my intention to be a source of news or content. I don’t have anything to sell, and I’m not trying to get likes/shares/follows. This site is an autobiographical effort - imperfections and all. My life, remembered in my words, my way.
